DNH Police Strengthen Traffic Control Ahead of Panchayat Elections
Silvassa, November 2:
As the Dadra & Nagar Haveli Panchayat elections draw near, scheduled for November 5, the DNH Police have intensified daily traffic control and routine vehicle checks across key routes and entry points of the Union Territory.
Traffic Control Units are active at Pipariya and the Silvassa Bridge, where officers are conducting detailed inspections of heavy-load and other vehicles to ensure compliance with safety norms and to keep city traffic running smoothly.
Officials said these checks aim to prevent congestion, maintain law and order, and ensure the smooth movement of goods and people ahead of the elections. Vehicles are being screened for valid documents, and checkpoints have been placed strategically to monitor entry into Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
Residents have welcomed the police initiative, noting that visible traffic presence has improved discipline and reduced road blockages in Silvassa and surrounding areas.

According to police sources, the case was registered on February 14, 2025, after a complaint by Ramsingh Sain (49), a resident of Dabhel, Nani Daman. The complainant reported that on February 10, 2025, while withdrawing cash from an ATM in Somnath, Daman, two unidentified men deceived him by claiming his card had been blocked. They offered to assist, took his card, asked for his PIN, and discreetly returned a different card.
Soon after, Sain’s wife received SMS alerts of two unauthorized withdrawals of ₹17,000 each, confirming that the original ATM card had been swapped and misused.
Investigation and Arrest
Acting swiftly, Kachigam Police formed a special investigation team. CCTV footage from the ATM, nearby streets, and district borders was collected and analyzed. The probe led to the identification of Chandankumar Manik Singh, a resident of Vapi Dongra and originally from Nawada, Bihar.
Despite multiple raids at his residence and native place, the accused initially evaded arrest. However, with the help of technical surveillance and confidential intelligence, Chandankumar was eventually apprehended in Daman.
During interrogation, he confessed to his role in the crime and disclosed the identity of his associate, Ayodhya Narayan Singh, also from Vapi Dongra and originally from Gaya, Bihar. Acting promptly, police arrested him from the Daman region.

Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine whether the accused were involved in other ATM card fraud cases across Daman, Silvassa, and Vapi. Authorities have assured strict action and urged citizens to remain alert while conducting ATM transactions.

जल्द ही, सैन की पत्नी को ₹17,000 की दो अनधिकृत निकासी के एसएमएस अलर्ट मिले, जिससे पुष्टि हुई कि मूल एटीएम कार्ड बदल दिया गया और दुरुपयोग किया गया।

The complainant reported that on February 10, 2025, while withdrawing cash from an ATM in Somnath, Daman, two unidentified men deceived him by claiming his card had been blocked. They offered to assist, took his card, asked for his PIN, and discreetly returned a different card.
Soon after, Sain’s wife received SMS alerts of two unauthorized withdrawals of ₹17,000 each, confirming that the original ATM card had been swapped and misused.
Investigation and Arrest
Acting swiftly, Kachigam Police formed a special investigation team. CCTV footage from the ATM, nearby streets, and district borders was collected and analyzed. The probe led to the identification of Chandankumar Manik Singh, a resident of Vapi Dongra and originally from Nawada, Bihar.
Despite multiple raids at his residence and native place, the accused initially evaded arrest. However, with the help of technical surveillance and confidential intelligence, Chandankumar was eventually apprehended in Daman.
During interrogation, he confessed to his role in the crime and disclosed the identity of his associate, Ayodhya Narayan Singh, also from Vapi Dongra and originally from Gaya, Bihar. Acting promptly, police arrested him from the Daman region.

As the Dadra & Nagar Haveli Panchayat elections draw near, scheduled for November 5, the DNH Police have intensified daily traffic control and routine vehicle checks across key routes and entry points of the Union Territory.
Traffic Control Units are active at Pipariya and the Silvassa Bridge, where officers are conducting detailed inspections of heavy-load and other vehicles to ensure compliance with safety norms and to keep city traffic running smoothly.
Officials said these checks aim to prevent congestion, maintain law and order, and ensure the smooth movement of goods and people ahead of the elections. Vehicles are being screened for valid documents, and checkpoints have been placed strategically to monitor entry into Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
Residents have welcomed the police initiative, noting that visible traffic presence has improved discipline and reduced road blockages in Silvassa and surrounding areas.

According to police sources, the case was registered on February 14, 2025, after a complaint by Ramsingh Sain (49), a resident of Dabhel, Nani Daman. The complainant reported that on February 10, 2025, while withdrawing cash from an ATM in Somnath, Daman, two unidentified men deceived him by claiming his card had been blocked. They offered to assist, took his card, asked for his PIN, and discreetly returned a different card.
Soon after, Sain’s wife received SMS alerts of two unauthorized withdrawals of ₹17,000 each, confirming that the original ATM card had been swapped and misused.
Investigation and Arrest
Acting swiftly, Kachigam Police formed a special investigation team. CCTV footage from the ATM, nearby streets, and district borders was collected and analyzed. The probe led to the identification of Chandankumar Manik Singh, a resident of Vapi Dongra and originally from Nawada, Bihar.
Despite multiple raids at his residence and native place, the accused initially evaded arrest. However, with the help of technical surveillance and confidential intelligence, Chandankumar was eventually apprehended in Daman.
During interrogation, he confessed to his role in the crime and disclosed the identity of his associate, Ayodhya Narayan Singh, also from Vapi Dongra and originally from Gaya, Bihar. Acting promptly, police arrested him from the Daman region.

Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing to determine whether the accused were involved in other ATM card fraud cases across Daman, Silvassa, and Vapi. Authorities have assured strict action and urged citizens to remain alert while conducting ATM transactions.
